|Subject:||Governance models in both the public and private sectors emphasise that the job of a board member is pro-active, not just reactive. This workshop will focus on: how to make the role and responsibilities for individual board members an effective, cohesive whole; what makes for effective board communication; and how to assess board effectiveness. The following topics will be covered: the need to establish clarity about what issues the board should deal with, and those that it delegates; the role of non-executive directors vis-à-vis executive directors; the role of sub-committees; individual and collective responsibilities; the type of information needed by boards; the structure and disclosure of board minutes; board-level interaction with key internal and external stakeholders; and accountability for the boards performance.
