Marcel Fafchamps (University of Oxford) The first part of the course discusses contract enforcement mechanisms, with a particular focus on trust, relational contracting, and reputation mechanisms. The second part of the course uses these ideas to examine financial and insurance markets. Although the concepts presented in the lectures apply in general, the emphasis is on a microeconomic understanding of patterns of behaviour observed among poor households and among small firms in developing countries.
