- Financial Infrastructures Research Conference 2012: Payments and Plumbing of Financial Markets: is there a common ground?
- Amsterdam, De Nederlandsche Bank, Board Meeting Room, Netherlands
- Over the past few decades ties between financial markets worldwide have become stronger as a result of developments in IT, the liberalization of financial markets and increased cross-border competition among financial intermediaries. The developments in the payment and securities settlement systems, i.e. the financial infrastructure, mirror the internationalization in financial markets: they also havebecome increasingly integrated and consolidated. During the recent crises, the financial infrastructures have continued to function well. The crises not only showed the importance of robust financial infrastructures, but also drew the attention to certain weaknesses. In addition, they also made clear thattheir impact can be far more severe and far-reaching than anticipated. The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers from across the world to present new work and discuss what has been achieved so far in order to deepen our understanding of payments and plumbing of financial markets. Furthermore, we want to identify common ground for research and directions for future research, as well as establishing a coherent "Financial Infrastructure" field.[gem?_?? den Informationen des Anbieters - according to site editor's information]
