| Subject: | Increasing life expectancy and low birth rates are shaping the future of the European population. The economic consequences of demographic ageing are manifold. Changes in the age structure of a population have a decisive impact on the labour market, consumption, savings and investment patterns, productivity as well as the redistribution of resources within and between generations. Politicians have to face the profound implications with regard to public spending on pensions, health, long-term care and education. Confronted with this major multi-faceted challenge, the question arises how to fundamentally sustain economic well-being. We invite submission of a first version of papers and an abstract on the conference topic as well as all other fields of economics.
