This software, by John Rust of the University of Maryland, is for managing journal operations without the use of paper. All the typical journal management functions are on-line: submissions, assigning referees, collecting referee reports, reporting back to authors, and the like. It also offers e-mail reminders to referees and editors can receive detailed statistics on the flow of submissions. A high degree of security is built into the system and there are daily backups. Also, journals are not locked into the system as data can be retrieved in a standard format. Many leading economic journals use it.
